Hijackers say a U S diplomat was killed on Kuwaiti flight
The hijackers of a Kuwait Airways jet at Tehran's airport say the passenger shot Tuesday and later dying was an American diplomat. Iran's IRNA and TRNA report unclear whether death occurred during a clash or as a consequence of the hijackers threatening to execute U.S. and British passengers. The plane carried 161 aboard and the hijackers demand the release of Kuwaiti prisoners, some facing death sentences for the 1983 U S Embassy and French Consulate attacks.
