Mr and Mrs A H Dommert and their son John returned from Opelousas Louisiana after attending the Sunday funeral of Mrs Guy L Elder aged 71. Elder was the mother of Mrs Dommert. The family traveled for the service following the death in Opelousas.
Crosby School Board faced a 15 day deadline to present a desegregation plan as Judge Ingraham warned he would impose one if needed. A restraining order blocked Crosby’s additions at Crosby and Drews campuses while Justice and HEW officials met with Crosby leaders. The Fifth Circuit would hear any Crosby appeal.
