Largest In Six Months Defenders Repel Delta Attack
In Mekong Delta district town of Tuyen Binh 300 militiamen police civilians and pacification workers repelled a major assault by as many as 500 North Vietnamese army regulars. The clash lasted five hours leaving 150 attackers dead and 29 defenders killed including 15 civilians with 50 wounded. American advisers praised the defenders as well as the overall handling amid Viet Namization shifts. Two American crewmen were wounded when a helicopter was shot down.

Grant funds to subsidize Baytown housing units
Low income residents in Baytown will benefit from a 110000 grant approved for financing rental subsidies. Senate Defeats $750 Exemption Hike Proposal

Humble retirees get increased company benefits roll out
About 1,500 annuitants in the Baytown Channelview La Porte area will see higher direct annuity benefits starting with January checks. The increases apply to all retired employees over 85 since July 1 1969 and to those under 65 who retired due to disability, with reductions in hospital and surgical insurance premiums for those under 65 until they reach 65. The supplement amount reflects retirement years, favoring those with longer service, as Humble’s board approved the raises after a request last April.
