Baytown police terminated two attacking dogs a white pit bull and a black chow mix that mauled a calf on Kilgore Road. An officer aided the injured calf owner, contacted animal control, and noted the owner plans veterinary care. No dog owner was found. The homeowner keeps livestock on her acre property.
A homeless man walked into Baytown City Hall at noon Monday and issued threats, witnessed by several city workers including a deputy city manager. He was arrested and jailed. Separately, a Baytown officer’s ticket writer fell from a patrol car on North Main around 1:30 am Monday, was run over, and destroyed with $4,700 loss.
Police report details multiple Monday burglaries including Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in the 1100 block of Beech where items from a snack stand and storage building were stolen. Losses are unknown. A separate break in near 2100 Wyoming Street at 6 am Monday saw a laptop stolen. About 50 pipes 10 to 15 feet long were taken from a business on 900 block South Highway 146 between Friday 5 pm and Monday 8:30 am, with an estimated loss of 3000 dollars. A home break-in on Wyoming Street is noted.
Over the weekend in Baytown the Police Beat reports thefts of 2700 dollars in electronics and jewelry on East Hunnicutt and 319 dollars stolen on West Humble. A Louisiana man reports his vehicle stolen from outside the La Quinta on Interstate 10. Loss totals reach 18000 dollars. Between Monday and Tuesday mornings officers logged 46 offense reports and investigated four assaults, an auto theft, seven building burglaries, three vehicle burglaries, a criminal mischief case, three forgeries, three thefts, and fifteen miscellaneous incidents.
