Three people flown by Life Flight to Houston hospitals after a two vehicle collision on Massey Tompkins Road were treated and released. Police report the 2:45 p.m. crash in the 500 block drew many spectators and a photo appeared on the Baytown Sun front page.
The Baytown Special Rodeo Association hosts a free roundup for special needs children and siblings on September 8 from 10 am to 2 pm at Eastside Honda, near Mont Belvieu. Horses supplied by Rocking Horse Riders, with Elvis and a Chick-fil-A cow, games, a fish pond, chocolate fountain, face painting, a chuck wagon lunch, and a give away bag for each child.
The BSRA plans for 200 youngsters plus parents and volunteers with booths and games, clown appearances from the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, and a Parks and Wildlife exhibit. Early online registration is encouraged with T shirts for each child and siblings. Past participants were invited to register, and BSRA collaborates with Goose Creek CISD Barbers Hill ISD Crosby Anahuac Dayton Liberty Huffman Hull-Daisetta and La Porte ISDs to reach more youths.
Economic report highlights more than 600 permanent full time positions posted by four Baytown firms for immediate filling across labor to management roles. Industry expansion at ExxonMobil, Chevron Phillips Chemical and others could bring up to 10,000 temporary jobs in the coming year, per the Department of Labor. See jobs page eight.

Bay Area Homeless Services, Inc. remains open to a small number of residents formerly served by the New Horizon Family Center. Executive Director William Eckert II and Board President Pete Alfaro discussed BAHS efforts to strengthen internal controls and avoid complacency. They cited three challenges including adopting a new accounting program to aid grant acquisition.
