Baytown police and fire crews responded to a collision between a blue Nissan Sentra and a red pickup with a trailer carrying lawn equipment. Three people were flown by Life Flight after the 2:40 p.m. crash prompted by a swerving move witnessed by Kelly Caskey. Injury details and counts were not available at publication. The wreck occurred after a brief rain shower.

Baytown based New Horizon Family Center emergency shelter closes after financial troubles. Executive director Patrina Pelton-Smith and the board say the closure is likely temporary but require significant funds to reopen and resume services under United Way of Baytown.
Baytown police say Aldo W Rodriguez, known as Worm and self styled graffiti pioneer, has been captured after years of vandalism and arson. The 20 year old is charged with two counts of arson, according to Lt Eric Freed. See Worm page 6A.
San Jacinto Methodist Hospital employees donated 131 fully loaded backpacks to the Baytown Family YMCA for Operation Backpack. Donna Gates, president and CEO, cited employee generosity as key to the donation and the YMCA expressed appreciation for the support.
