Arbitrator Rules For Humble In Union Dispute
An arbitrator ruled in favor of Humble Oil and Refining Co. over its assignment of operators to duties in higher job classifications. The decision, announced June 14 after a hearing, was issued by Prof. Paul M. Hebert of LSU. Gulf Coast Union represents about 2,000 workers at Humble Refinery and Enjay Chemical Plant. The parties also arbitrate a payroll issue tied to daylight saving time.

Kenneth Persenaire Baytown parks and recreation director will travel Thursday to Lubbock for the Texas Amateur Athletic Federation state church softball tournament. He serves as state commissioner for church softball with the TAAF and will return Sunday. The event features 16 district and regional winning teams. Baytown plans to affiliate with the TAAF.
