In a two part series editors report the USDA and NOAA removed drought alerts in 30 southeast Texas counties including Harris and Chambers near Galveston Bay. AKC delegate Sherry Wallis addressed Baytown Kennel Club members warning proposed federal rules for pets would hit small breeders hard. She urged public comments before the August 15 deadline, explaining any breeder with four or more breeding females or animals sold from non kennel sites could be covered, with broad counting rules risking many hobby breeders. Exemptions cited were unclear.
Barbers Hill ISD achieved adequate yearly progress under No Child Left Behind. The district met the standard at district level and all campuses except the high school, based on reading and math test scores graduation rates and attendance.
Dallas area celebrity Dorothy Strouhal, known from Great Day Houston and Worse Cooks In America, started Beauty Will Rise to support facilities that care for children victimized by human traffickers in Houston and eastern Harris County. She described a courthouse sighting of an underage prostitute that moved her to act.
