Baytown Mayor Stephen DonCarlos selected 25 students for the Mayor and ExxonMobil Summer Work Program honors. Several peers and supervisors awarded special accolades from the applicant pool, with winners highlighted by the mayor. See honors page 6A.
Mayor Stephen DonCarlos spoke at the Mayor and ExxonMobil Summer Work Program Awards Luncheon praising city opportunities and job growth. He urged the 25 students honored to keep pursuing education and employment. The Bayer Material Science sponsored luncheon celebrated the program on SEE WORK PAGE 6A.
Advance tickets go on sale Monday for An Afternoon of Inspiration at the Lee College Performing Arts Center. The 2 p.m. Saturday Oct 6 event features a veterans salute and a raffle to dance with Martinez, famed for his DWTS run and All My Children role. Doors open 12:30 p.m. The international speaker spent 34 months in recovery with 33 surgeries at Brooke Army Medical Center and now promotes resilience. His memoir Full of Heart arrives November 2012.

Transported wastes in 1965 66 by barge to impoundments north of I 10 and east of the river channel now with lower flows contaminants rise. Effects on local recreation await SEE WATER PAGE 6A.
