VETS UNITE TO SAVE A PATRIOT'S GRAVE
Three groups plan moving Lorenzo de Zavala grave from across the Ship Channel to Channelview County Park to prevent loss of Texas history. The grave sits in a marshy one acre plot near San Jacinto area with limited access by boat only. Public events include a Democratic rally April 23 at Channelview High School and a Baptist revival ongoing at First Baptist Church Channelview with Reverend Carraway and Earl Davis leading services.

Piedmont bans Simba the lion despite owners’ defense
Simba, an eight month old lion owned by Art Quaife and Pete Clay, was outlawed by the Piedmont City Council as a potential danger. The owners call him harmless and lovable, noting he roams only in their house on a leash and has visited a park without incident. The duo, Berkeley math graduates, plan to fight the ordinance with a lawyer.
