Navy PO3C Lyon visits Persian Gulf base while in Pakistan
NAVY PO3C Richard E. Lyon Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard E. Lyon, husband of Joan Robertson of Charlotte, visited the Crude Oil Export Terminal and Imperial Iranian Naval Base at Kharg Island in the Persian Gulf while serving aboard USS Sarsfield in Karachi, Pakistan. BAYTOWN TENANTS Association will meet at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Community Center Friendship Room to discuss housing issues. Mrs. H. Younger is president. Peter G. Blatchley, utilities general foreman at U.S. Steel in Baytown, completed a second level course Friday at Wittenberg University's management development program in Springfield, Ohio, now in its 20th year.

Amos Basil Casey 71 of 1317 Cedar Bayou Road died at 12 20 a m Saturday in a hospital. A life long Cedar Bayou resident he was a retired construction worker. Surv survivors include his wife Hazel Hinson Casey Baytown one daughter R D Causey Jr Baytown one brother Elton D Casey Baytown and a sister Ora Iffrey Houston three grandchildren Cliford Clayton and Sherry Causey Baytown and two nieces and a nephew. Baytown Girl Dies in U S 77 Crash Near Arm strong
Guadalupe Medrana a 13 year old Baytown girl was killed in a collision on U S Highway 77 near Armstrong in Kenedy County. Six relatives were injured in the crash including her parents Humberto and Dora Medrano and siblings Arturo Jr Jose L and Arturo. The injured were taken to Kleberg County Hospital in Kingsville. State patrolman Sherwood Hamilton said the Medrana auto towed another car, struck a bridge abutment, swerved and overturned. The girl died at the scene.
