Baytown Optimists sell $1.50 tickets for an oyster fry from 10 am to 8 pm on April 18. Tickets available from any Baytown Optimist or at Carter Motor Co. Dick Wilson and Jim Carter collect funds. Eddie Huron to be chief chef. Also notes library, veterans call, Easter egg hunt, and award to Eddie Lemoine.
At the airport midnight meetup, the A V Haynes couple hosts Samson the dog from Puerto Rico while Capt and Mrs A V Haynes Jr vacation in Europe. Lee College student Mark Campos told Baytown city council that youth require more recreation options including gymnasiums, a coffee house, and regular movies and dances. Baytown City Council approved buying a 250000 gallon per day package treatment plant to relieve Craigmont sewer overload. The 52,000 estimate includes delivery in 8-10 weeks and a 2 week install, with a 3 week bidding period for a federal grant about 17000. Two council members favored a 50000 gallon unit to be delivered in 2 weeks, but the panel amended to 250000 gallons with bids.

William Gerald Jack Todd 57 of Houston, tied to Mrs. Eric F. Lehde, dies in a three car crash on Interstate 10 two miles east of Hamshire Jefferson County near Beaumont. Funeral set Saturday at Settegast Kopf Houston. Also killed are Sally Bachman 19 Beaumont and Susan Guste 22 New Orleans. Todd Southern District Manager for Bell Equipment Co. Survived by wife Nettie and daughter Janice Wallace.
