Dynamite Blast Sinks Scow Near Bath Iron Works
A dynamite blast sank an 85 foot scow off Bath near Carlton Bridge as nine workers drilled a river ledge. Clarence I. Blake was hurled into the Kennebec but rescued unharmed. several crewmen were stunned but uninjured. Salvage crews recovered heavy drilling gear as the scow sank in about 25 feet of water.

Laselle of the Army Recruiting Station in Augusta will be at the post office every Wednesday afternoon from 2.30 to 4.30 for the next weeks to accept applications and interview young men interested in enlisting or joining the flying cadet program. Bathman Uninjured In Plane Crash Near Airport
Clark Matthews, 27 South Street, escaped uninjured Sunday afternoon when a Pipe cab plane carrying him crashed into a field near Harpswell Road. Pilot Lawrence Bailey of Brunswick was uninjured as the light craft was virtually demolished. Officials said the plane likely took off in trouble and the pilot tried to set it down in the field but hit trees, tearing the wings. The plane was privately owned.

Motorists Settle In Court Tuesday By Paying Fines
In municipal court Tuesday morning Donald F. LeFebvre of 10 Pearl street pleaded guilty to speeding and paid a $5 fine plus $4.70 costs after being cited for 65 mph on the Bath Brunswick highway. Walter Gallant of 16 Floral street also pleaded guilty to the same charge and paid a similar fine and costs. Sherwood R. Francis of Auburn pleaded guilty to parking more than one hour in a one hour zone on School street, paying a $3 fine plus $4.70 costs, after being cited for parking from nine in the morning to four in the afternoon.

Local man arrested in window smashing case at Lara property
Alleged to have admitted paying two youths to smash windows at the Lara property. The suspect, a resident of 20 Horton Street, was arrested by Lewiston police and charged with conspiracy. The youths were released under orders to return. Bernard O'Connell reported the grievance and the case proceeds.
