As Bath considers new housing on the west side and a planned school building, officials weigh waste disposal options including a potential incinerator. Lester Munsey Jr of Pine Street and Charles Wallace of Upper Washington Street escaped injury when their vehicles collided on Route 127 in Arrowsie Sunday evening. Munsey drove a heavy International truck toward Bath and struck Wallace's light coupe near the schoolhouse. The coupe suffered heavy front-end damage. State Patrolman John P. Crosby said no charges would be filed.
Mrs. Stanley E. Robinson hosted a Friday evening surprise shower for Miss Marion Rowe at 1161 Washington Street honoring her upcoming marriage to Frank Myrick. The bride-to-be, daughter of L. W. Rowe of 17 Fremont Street, chose October 4 for the wedding. guests included relatives from Mechanic Falls, Portland, and Bath.
The Bath city government granted Bath Iron Works permission to sponsor an eleven for Sunday afternoon games at Kelley Field this fall from September 21 to November 23. The request, supported by a petition of over 100 names, cited national defense needs.

Mr. and Mrs. Ambrose S. McFadden of 14 Deering Street observed their 40th anniversary quietly at home. Bath Times records show they wed in a home ceremony on Sunday September 8 1901 with Rev. E E Snow of Bowdoinham officiating. Bride’s parents were Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Hathorn of Woolwich.
A horse drawn jigger laden with rubbish moved slowly up Center street hill during peak traffic. The stalled procession caused frequent delays as autos and trucks crawled behind the horse and wagon. Miss Geraldine Despres hosted a surprise shower for Doris Babine who had won a scholarship and would soon depart for Vermont. The event featured many gifts and a buffet lunch with attendees including Phyllis Bisson, Elsie Skaling, Louise Babine, Pauline Brown, Catherine Hart, Gladys Geneau, Barbara McMann, Marie Hart, Frances Flaherty, Mary Bloxsom, Bessie Kakos, Helen Cormier and Jeannette Jenkins.
Mr and Mrs MacFadden marked their 40th anniversary, wed in Woolwich, with Mr MacFadden a Bath Memorial Hospital patient for a major operation. He was born in Georgetown September 4, 1856 to Benjamin Franklin MacFadden and Lydia Snowman MacFadden. He is the last surviving child of his family. Mrs MacFadden is Frances Ellsworth Hathorne.
The board debated street acceptance for Home Builders first 30 houses while city costs were limited to accepting streets. A $2,084 school bus purchase and a $134,000 Morse High wing grant were approved, with other petitions referred to taxes and public lighting committees.
