Woman Motorist Injured At New Meadows Bridge
Mrs. Ida M. Sparrow of Northboro Massachusetts suffered a fractured right leg in a skid and collision at the New Meadows river bridge while returning from a visit in Stonington. Her daughters Esther and Laura Sparrow were in the car. Laura rode in the rumble seat. The accident occurred on a slippery road when the Essex coupe struck the north abutment and railing, tearing out a post. Mrs Sparrow was taken to City hospital for treatment.

Lewiston Man Fined for Reckless Driving
Alfred St. Pierre of Lewiston pleaded guilty through counsel in Bath municipal court to driving a new motor truck recklessly between Pejepscot and Lisbon Falls on Sunday. He was fined 10 with costs 19.15 after Officer Crosby reported speeds around 45 mph and erratic passing. In the truck were 21 aboard including 20 children in the rear and his wife beside him.

A six day canvass in Bath measured 432 out of state cars on Front and Center streets during peak shopping hours. Massachusetts led with 201 cars, followed by New York 66 and Pennsylvania 34, across 24 states and DC. If three travelers per car average $1 spent, Bath could see about $1,296 from out of state shoppers over six days, equating to roughly $200 daily.

Bath Druggist Slips and Breaks an Arm
Merton O Webber prominent Bath druggist slipped from a box used to fix a ceiling light on Front street Friday night about 7 30. He fractured his left arm and was aided to his feet by George Conway. Dr A A Stott applied temporary splints and Webber was taken to the City hospital for X rays. He spent the night there and returned to the store Saturday afternoon. Arthur Colby, formerly employed at the store, is now on the job during Webber’s absence.

Chandler Suffers Crushed Right Foot in Power Boat Accident
Perley Chandler of Popham Beach sustained a badly crushed right foot when a floor board gave way on a power boat. His foot was gouged by a propeller shaft while at full speed. He steered to shore aided by a nearby yachtman who rescued him. He is expected to remain in hospital for some time. A Bath man reported a crying woman who leaped from Kennebec bridge at Woolwich. police took four hours to locate her and determine she was a stranger in the area.

The body of Alfred Peace Dennis 62 a former United States Tariff Commission vice chairman and noted scholar was found on Bailey’s Island shore after he disappeared in his pajamas. Medical Examiner says death by own action. family said he was ill and despondent. Dennis taught at Evelyn College Princeton Wesleyan Smith and later served as commercial attache to Rome.

Edgar B. Brossard, acting Tariff Commission chairman, announced the Maryland native Alfred P. Dennis died by suicide. Dennis had suffered poor health for months, left for Maine around July 1 after a two week illness absence in June, and had served as vice chairman during the Coolidge era before Hoover reorganized the commission. Dennis, 62, formerly a Princeton professor and author of The Romance of World Trade, had a career in federal service from 1921 in Rome and London, with extensive writings on international trade.

Three Hurt In Woolwich Auto Collision On Blind Curve
An 81 year old woman and two others were injured in a Sunday evening crash on a blind curve at the eastern end of a Woolwich concrete highway. Mrs. Moses H. Foster and Dr. Benjamin B. Foster were among the injured, with Mrs. Foster later sent home and Mr. Stafford treated for a bad forehead cut. Dr. Foster and Mrs. Stafford's husband lived nearby. the corner was described as blind by State Highway Officer John P. Crosby.

Albion farmer asks court to delay ruling on drunken driving charge
Harry R. Hyson of Albion, a farmer, was arraigned in Waterville on a drunken driving charge. He asked Recorder J. A. Letourneau to reserve decision until harvest. Hyson said if found guilty he lacks funds but would pay later. State police alleged he drove a car that head on crashed into another, injuring three people including a two year old boy.

Glass fragment saved eye in drill accident at Iron Works
