Fire alerts and vehicle calls disrupt Friday schedule

Earlier Thursday at 3:50 a service truck was sent to Day's Ferry to address a fire started by an electric motor that burned through a partition but was extinguished. the truck returned at 5:30. The fire occurred in the home of Clayton Armstrong.

The Dunlap Commandery No 5 held its annual inspection in the Masonic Temple on Tuesday night with Eminent Sir Robert Whitman of Maine as visiting grand commandery official. The program began at 4 30 pm with temple work, followed by a lobster gala supper at 6 30 pm and full opening of the Knights Templar at 7 30 pm, ending with a goodnight buffet at the Sedgwick.

Lowell Temple No. 31 Pythian Sisters held a tacking in the K of P hall with a six o clock supper and an evening meeting. Mary Curtis led the tacking, Jane Shea and Agnes Perry oversaw the supper, Annie Williams won the mystery prize, and plans were set for a rummage sale on October 28. Marion Darrah Margaret Hanscom and Jane Shea chaired the rummage sale committee. A social hour with Halloween contests followed. A tacking occurred again this week and co chairmen Emily Williams Viola Melzard served supper. Members are asked to donate for the rummage sale and contact Darrah or Shea before Monday noon.
