Former Bath Couple Celebrates Golden Wedding Anniversary
Mr and Mrs Herbert Taylor Norton celebrated their golden wedding at their Groton home on Eastern Point road December 20. The couple born in Bath were married by Rev E T Adams. Norton formerly worked at Bath Iron Works and later on steamships Dakota and Minnesota. Eighteen guests attended including children Homer W Bradway and Harold Norton, and grandchildren Adele Norton William Bradway and Lawrence Bradway. A wedding cake was featured with refreshments and gifts were exchanged.

First cement freight crosses Kennebec bridge in Maine
A 14 car Dragon Portland Cement freight, hauled by Maine Central No 501, became the first to cross the Kennebec bridge from Bath to Woolwich. The shipment, from Lawrence Portland Cement Co in Lehigh Valley, supports Thomaston’s new cement plant costing about 4 million dollars.
