Theta Chapter Beta Sigma Phi completes hospital project
Theta Chapter members held a special meeting at Miss Roberta Hawthorne's Woolwich home. They finished furnishing the doctors' room at Bath Memorial Hospital and will maintain it. They also planned a Christmas tree ornament drive for Miss Mary Carroll in England and announced a Dec 2 supper and sale. A donation to New England Home for Little Wanderers was approved. A prize pledge tea was set for Sunday afternoon. Mrs Brewster Sedgwick chaired the project. Miss Eleanor Danforth and Mrs Richard Haskell to assist. Sgt. Stewart H Day, U S Air Force, is a prisoner of war in Germany, first confirmed information to his mother since January.

Defendant Wins Verdict In Trespass Case In Maine
A Sagadahoc County Superior court jury returned a verdict for defendant Jesse Tarr in a $5,000 trespass suit brought by Richmond resident Rinaldo A. L. Colby. The case concerned cutting and partial removal of oak trees on Colby’s Richmond Camp Ground property, including the Grove and Circle area, with Tarr claiming a contract to select and cut trees at $1 per thousand, while Colby alleged only limited authorization. Trial began Thursday and adjourned Friday night with the jury delivering the verdict after about two hours of deliberation.
