Child Struck by Auto Sustains Bruised Ankle
Eight year old Robert D. Miller son of Mr and Mrs Lynwood Miller of 94 Academy street escaped with a bruised ankle after being struck by Leroy Stover of 420 Middle street on Lincoln street opposite Academy as he crossed to school. Traffic Officer Byron D Clark investigated and found the boy darted into the street at about 25 mph. no charges filed.

Portland Plumber Fred H. Wilson Dies After Illness
Fred H. Wilson, 62, a Portland plumber who had lived in Bath the last two months, died early Saturday at Memorial hospital from pneumonia. He was a son of George and Catherine Wilson and resided at 30 Pleasant Street, Portland. Funeral services were held Sunday at two in Portland with burial in Forest City cemetery.

In Lewiston, two men on the Montello street WPA project were struck by flying rock from a dynamite blast on Oct 4. Joseph Laporte, 44, and Willie Pearson, 52, both suffered right ankle fibula fractures and were treated by Dr. Pelletier before returning home.

Record Bird Nests in Lane Yard Poplar
A Carolina poplar at the Lane home in South Rumford hosted six bird families this summer. Robins Cedar waxwings and bluebirds raised broods in boxes and natural branches while a wren used a birdbox. A woodpecker nested in an apple tree and yellowbirds tended two youngsters in a spruce. Mr Lane built four more birdboxes this spring and three birdbaths see heavy use with a small bath claimed by the yellowbirds.
