Boston Steamer Disappearance Sees John R Houghton Missing
Boston police were notified of the disappearance of John Reed Houghton a 40 year old man from Bath Maine on the liner Boston during a Boston to New York voyage on Sept 28. His stateroom was found empty though belongings remained and the room was locked with a pass key. Investigators noted the window may have been closed due to boat painters and a delay in reporting prompted cross city cooperation.

Night Patrolman Melville Rice found a ground floor window breached and entry made from the basement door. City Marshal Walter L.
