Lindberghs Land at Powers Field on Bath Visit
World famous aviator Col. Charles A. Lindbergh and Mrs. Lindbergh landed at Powers airport on the Brunswick road during a Bath stopover on their return from the Morrow summer home in North Haven. They refueled, dined with Mr and Mrs William Powers, and chatted with local residents including Register William F. Dunham and Earl L. Hamm. The couple traveled in a Bird plane with a small Scotch terrier aboard.

The Pastime Horse Show at Rich's mountain West Bath drew about 40 horses and large Bath crowds. Top honors went to Lindy Brown owned and ridden by Mrs James A Gillies Jr of Bath in two classes, with Miss Jane Hyde taking multiple horsemanship and partner awards. Other winners included Sparkling Suse of Auburn and Colonel from Brunswick riding school, with judge shifts and safe travel noting no accidents. Governor Gardner's wife rode Martha to a second in Road Hack after a truck mishap en route.

Lady Fisher-Smith of Halifax England arrived in Bath to visit her cousin Mrs. Frank B. Nichols and relatives in Maine before sailing back to England on Nov. 11. She is a former mayoress and prominent reformer, president of the Yorkshire Liberal Federation and active with the Girl Guide movement.

Henry Dearborn Killed in Colorado Springs Motor Jam
Henry Dearborn Jr. 16 of New York City died after a wreck in Colorado Springs. Medill McCormick 17 suffered a broken leg as he and Henry Dearborn were pulled from the car. A hit and run driver struck the scene after a lightless truck caused the jam. Dearborn died at Glockner Sanitarium. They were students at Fountain View Valley School for Boys returning from Cripple Creek with instructor Lyman Colt. Mrs Dearborn and family learned of the tragedy in New York and Small Point relatives attended the funeral.

The Fort Edgecomb blockhouse in Edgecomb Maine is described as a two story timber fort with musketry loopholes and a wooden tower. It sits near the Sheepscot and Damariscotta rivers on a three acre site purchased in 1808. The fortification was armed by 1809 and later decommissioned with events tied to Governor Percival Baxter and Gen. Pershing.

The Woolwich filling station operated by Forrest Carlton on the north side of the State highway three miles east of the Kennebec bridge was broken into Tuesday evening. Cigarettes candy pennies and gasoline were stolen. Deputies Oliver and Small investigated. City Marshal Whitney joined to take fingerprints. A suspect car was described and seen near the Carlton station Tuesday afternoon and later at a nearby farm house.
