Maureen Ann Merrick eight and twins Chester and Maurice four celebrated a Sept. 27 birthday with games won by Katherine Fish and Francena Williams. Guests joined the Merrick family at 432 Lark Street for cake and ice cream served by several relatives.

The 1950 Maine Luncheon of the Newcomen Society of England was held Thursday at the Penobscot Valley Country Club in Bangor to honor Bangor Hydro-Electric Co. president Edward M. Graham, who also serves as vice chairman of the lamne Committee. Attendees from Bath included A. M. Main Sidney L. Eaton W. L. Skelton and George B. Connard with Kennebec Coal & Wharf Co. reps F. J. Pine Tree Troop 1 Intermedi ate Girl Scouts met at Lambert Park Community building for the season opener. They planned Day Camp work, a November troop birthday, a fund raising event, uniform drive by January, and using Camp Hinds refund for dues. A new Hawk Patrol formed with Duane Fitzgerald as leader and Donald A. McAllister as assistant.
Troop 52 has moved its meeting place to Mitchell school from the Corliss Street church vestry due to growth. The troop lists 28 registered scouts and 12 explorers, with new members Harry Young Billy Luke Charles Hanson Jon Lang Philip Lame Robert Nute Marshall Libby Richard Coombs Corliss Crowley and Billy Strube. Alfred Goodwin Arthur Richardson and Bobby King advance to the Explorer crew. Arthur Stilphen is named adviser to the Explorer crew and Lloyd Coombs joins as junior assistant scoutmaster. Leaders for four patrols are named and the troop plans two overnight trips, winter hikes, a treasure hunt, and a week at Camp Hinds in July.
