A record crowd watched the Sagadahoc Rod Gun and Skeet association field dog trials held near Lovers Retreat road Bath. Bright Meadows Chief owned by Rodney E. Ross Sr. won Open All Age. Sunday Open All Age winner Masterman Countess from New York led the field with Bright Meadows Chess second. Thirty six attended the banquet at the Bath Country Club.

The Bath Laundrymen won the City Recreation Softball season championship by defeating the Elks 5-3 in the final playoff game at Kelley Field. They previously beat the Elks 6-5 to take two of three in the series, with proceeds supporting the Jimmy Fund. Fortier started the scoring with a first inning homer, and Laundrymen rallies produced a 5-2 lead before the Elks added a final tally in the sixth. Umpires and scorers were John Stuart, Tick Gowen, Elford A. Stover, Stanley Hunter, Dick Hogan, and Les Plant.

An engaging Bath Garden Club meeting at Mrs. George Sargent’s home featured guest speaker Mrs. Perry Byrne from Damariscotta and President Mrs. Hitchcock.
