Mrs Myra Pennell Hosts Friends At Informal Tea

Mrs. Myra Pennell entertained at 14 High Street on Tuesday evening for Mrs. Thomas W. Hall and her daughter Ann visiting Emerson Hall. Mrs. Hall and Ann left for Allston Mass the next day where she resides while Major Hall serves in Tokyo. Guests enjoyed cards and refreshments with several local friends attending. Barbara Wyman, Gorham State Teachers College student, resumed studies after a weekend visit with her parents Swanton and Leona Wyman of Phippsburg.

Billy Brown Fund Benefit Dance Returns $130 in Receipts

Sagadahoc Ferry Mothers club with Woolwich PTO held a benefit dance at Tuessie hall. After expenses, $110 was added to the Billy Brown Fund. Merchants donated rolls frankfurts and soda, several packing companies contributed, and tickets sales plus donations funded the event. Esquire orchestra provided music. Mrs Lawrence Edwards chaired arrangements and thanks were extended.

Memorial hospital drive falls far short of goal

A total of 5600 has been raised in the annual Memorial hospital campaign toward a 16000 goal to offset this year's deficit. Some solicitors have not reported yet and additional replies to letters are expected. The Red Cross office on Center Street will receive contributions nine to twelve daily, with checks mailed to William Mussen den at 15 Center Street or pickup arrangements by phone.

Story Telling Hour Draws Crowd Despite Cold Weather

Story Telling Hour drew steady attendance Saturday morning as Mrs. Jesse Levin told Rumpelstiltskin. Next Saturday the Portland Children's Theater will present Rumpelstiltskin at Morse High auditorium, curtain 11 a.m. with a small admission fee. December 9 the hour resumes at 10 30 a.m.

Bath Boy Reported Missing in Korea

Pfc. John Guy Dunlap, 25, U. S. Army, is reported missing in Korea per War Department telegram received by his mother Mrs. Prudence Dunlap of Bath. A World War II veteran in the Army Combat Engineers, he re-enlisted in May 1949, native of Bath, Morse High School alumnus, formerly employed at Bath Iron Works and Hinman Construction.

The Bath Garden Club met Tuesday afternoon at Mrs. Norman Howard's home with co hostesses. Members demonstrated Christmas decorations including centerpieces mantle arrangements and decor items. Storm damages hit Center Street buildings in night wind

A strong Sunday night wind caused roof damage at the Central Maine Power Co block on Front Street. Water leaked into the Colonial Club, flooding the floor by Monday morning, requiring rubber footwear. A new linoleum floor helped keep water from the Times Company and Central Maine Power Co offices on the second floor.
