Bailey Evening School Prep for New Diesel Course
Bailey Evening School of Industry opens Monday November 28 for an 18 week term. Courses include commercial bookkeeping shorthand and typing and a new diesel engineering track for licensed operator readiness with theory and practical instruction led by Fred Hoffman assisted by Sylvester Rowland. Tuition is 25 cents per evening for diesel and 15 cents for cooking. all other courses free. Registration Monday at 7 pm in the high school auditorium.

Harpswell House Destroyed By Blazing Fire
A North Harpswell residence owned by Mrs. Bessie E Saw yer was gutted in a fire that started around 11 Tuesday night. Firemen battled flames until 4 15 Wednesday morning with water from a swamp and two wells. Loss is about 8000 with 6000 insured. Mrs. Saw yer, who lived alone, escaped after arousing herself and seeking help. Bowdoin College students helped salvage much of the home’s furniture as the barn shell was saved.
