A blaze at the 481 and 483 Washington Street double house Sunday evening caused attic damage. Fire chief Parks suspects spontaneous combustion. Firefighters halted the fire without flooding the living quarters. alarms sounded 7 50 p.m. and declared under control at 8 50 p.m. Residents Mrs. Blanche M. Joy and Mrs. Emma A. Pierce occupy the two sections. A Merchants Bureau and Lewiston Chamber of Commerce group met to plan activities for next year’s State convention with local officials.

Henry C. Wright will retire from the presidency of the Bath City Hospital at the end of his current term on January 20 1983. He announced the move at the trustees meeting to allow time to select a successor at the association’s general meeting early next year. Wright has served about five years as the unanimous choice to replace William D. Sewall and will aid in the transition.

Golden Wedding of Bath Couple Celebrated
Mr and Mrs Charles H Blair of 19 Mechanic Street marked their golden wedding with a family dinner and gifts from friends. The couple, married in Richmond by Rev J W Smith, were later feted by church members who donated a sum of money. Mrs Blair born Corrinda D Denham in Bowdoinham June 1 1861, and Mr Blair born October 5 1857 in Woolwich, have lived in Bath since 1914. They have one child Florence Mary Blair who died in 1903. the Blairs have long worked in local service and church life.

Memorial unveiled for Maine Civil War hero at Gettysburg
The Gettysburg ceremony dedicated a statue of General Oliver Otis Howard with governors Pinchot and Gardiner speaking for Maine and Pennsylvania. Bowdoin college president Kenneth C. M.
