Bath's October relief cases declined to 33 cases involving 100 people from September's 46 cases and 147 people. Health official Merrill attributed the drop to Bath Canning Co employment, road and bridge work, and potato picking in Aroostook County, but warned unemployment could rise in November and require more funds. He suggested needing up to $9000 more beyond the $27000 appropriation to cover six months of welfare costs.
