Bath continues to mourn the retirement of John W. Gilmore the long time City Clerk who served since 1905. The City Council accepted his resignation with regret and appointed C Leroy Hutchins as his successor while Gilmore remains as advisor for health reasons. The Roland Smith Post No 21 held its Armistice eve dance in the State armory Monday evening drawing about 375 attendees to music by Kearney Kallander and his orchestra. The venue featured signal flags from Bath Iron Works and a large gold American Legion seal behind the orchestra. Post leaders welcomed guests including Past Commander and Mrs. Howard Pratt, Past Commander Ralph Gay and Mrs. Gay, and Hon. and Mrs. Donald N. Small who led the grand march. Proceeds benefit legion police uniforms.
