Autumn wedding of Miss Sewall Brillant Event
Miss Mary Sewall daughter of Hon and Mrs Arthur Sewall of Stone House became the bride of Lieut Lewis Huntington Hyde USNR Saturday afternoon at the Church of the New Jerusalem. The gown of ivory taffeta with old lace and a long veil featured a bouquet of butterfly orchids and swainsonia. Attendants included Mrs Kenneth Quakenbush matron of honor and Alexander O Vietor as best man. The ceremony included music by James A McLellan and Mendelssohn's wedding march. Afterward a reception at Stone House Farm with a large display of flowers, ship pictures, and antiques. The couple left for a honeymoon to Hot Springs Virginia.

Mattress Fire damages Broad street rooming house
A mattress fire at ten Saturday in a Broad street apartment above the Window Shade Shop drew a still alarm and pumper response. Smoke poured from a front window but the fire, likely starting in the bed, was quickly controlled without city hydrants used. The burning mattress and debris were removed to the street as the blaze was extinguished. Miss Gloria Brown had been a guest of Miss Jacqueline Snipe of Topsham.

Bath Rotary Anns become Bath Inner Wheel the first U S wives of Rotarians to affiliate with the international Inner Wheel headquartered in Great Britain. Halloween landmark birthday marks Venus Candy Store founder
Halloween day marks the 38th anniversary of Charles Venus arrival to America, founder of Venus Candy Store in Bath. Born in Greece, he first landed in New York in 1907 at age 16 and lived a peripatetic career before settling Bath, opening shops, cafes, and finally the Venus Candy Store in Bath after returns from Greece and a 1930 overseas visit.

Dr. William Leroy Stidger of Boston University will preach the anniversary sermon on Sunday December 9, drawing from Edwin Markham. Richard W. Ellsasser will give a public organ concert the same night as part of the program. The anniversary week is directed by Rev. Ashton A. Almand.

Newell, president of Bath Iron Works Corp and of the Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers, will give the annual address at the society meeting in New York at the Waldorf Astoria on November 15. Halloween Night Boisterous and Costly in Bath
Halloween in Bath last week saw a spike in fire alarm calls with six sirens between six and midnight. Five youths, three juveniles and two older youths, were charged with false alarms. all cases were continued to Monday. Cost to taxpayers exceeded $300 as Bath firefighting responded to each call from six box locations including Lambert Park, Washington and Grove, High and Park, Lincoln and Green, Middle and School, and Center and Floral. Further arrests possible as additional suspects questioned.
