Bath National Bank building nears completion in Bath
The Bath National Bank plans a grand new ground floor bank and upper offices in Custom House Square Bath. Architects Tracy Swartwout Litchfield and designers Hoggson Bros oversee the project with a granite base Harvard brick limestone trim and a massive ten ton round vault door. President William D Sewall leads the bank with holdings including Bath Savings Institution Fidelity Trust Co and Arthur Sewall shipbuilding interests.

Bath native Captain John F Skillings rose from Maine roots to command the Christobal between New York and Panama. Born in Calcutta in 1861 he led the Maracaibo Valencia and Venezuela before serving in the Spanish American War era on Guan tanamo harbor. He married Edith Fisher in 1895 and raises two children in Bath while guiding vessels for the Panama Railroad and canal era.
