Sub Commander Thanks Bath for Visit of the Halfbeak
Lt Cmdr. Philp F. Eckert thanks Bath organizations and citizens for a pleasant Submarine Jeff Bath stop over. About 2,500 visitors toured the Halfbeak over two days, double the usual. The ship, a Fleet Type submarine with 70 crew and nine officers, heads to Woods Hole after the visit.

Hartleb House to Be Moved to a New Location
The Hartlebb house at 58 Lincoln Street, a 60 year old two and a half story ten room structure, is prepared for relocation toward the Court house. Owner Louis Petlock and contractor Norman Howard arranged with Frank Page and Catherine Hawley to buy a lot behind the Page residence on Lincoln Street. Movers have disassembled furnace and windows, removed brickwork and porch, and will use a local crew with Ira Dresser assisting. The move will re establish the home on a new foundation at a rear Lincoln Street site.

Nearly 200 Cubs and leaders presented a three part show at Morse Gymnasium the Third Annual Cub Scout Revue before more than 800 attendees. Acts included Ceremonies Circus and Minstrels with Akela Walter McNaughton, Be a Cubbing pageantry and a German band number drawing high applause.

Bath Garden club crafts show to aid beautification project
The Bath Garden club sponsors an arts and crafts show at Bath Iron Works Recreation Center on Thursday from 2:20 to 9 p m to fund Bath beautification. Committees list leaders for refreshments tickets prizes music and exhibits featuring notable artisans and local crafts including woodcarving weaving watercolors and dolls. Incidental organ music and a prize possession booth highlight the event with items from Mrs Dolly Madison to old French furniture. Tickets are available from club members and at the B I W booth.

Bath to ring bells for TB x ray survey this week
Door to door visits begin in Bath during the week of June 19 for a free chest X ray survey at City hall. Sponsored by the Bath Public Health Nursing association with approval from Memorial hospital medical board. The TB Control division will read films and mail reports to participants.

Northeast Airlines to run daily Brunswick air service this summer
Northeast Airlines announces daily summer air service including Sundays to Brunswick from New York and Boston with a stop at Rockland. Convair 40 passenger planes will operate two lines ending Sept 30 from the Brunswick Naval Air Station field. Jack Healey will manage Brunswick operations starting May 22.

Waldoboro Man’s 35000 Mile Quest For Lost World War II Plane
John H. Foster, Waldoboro selectman and Bath Lions member, spoke of a 35000 mile journey begun in 1948 to find a B-24 bomber and crew missing since Oct 22 1944. Joergen Knudsen of Sorce Denmark spoke at a Bowdoin Rotary luncheon about Denmark’s schools. He said children 7 to 14 attend primary school, then choose a middle school and future path, with foreign language encouraged unless farming. Further education depends on parental finances.

First Span Erected On Woolwich Arrowsic Bridge
Harris Structural Steel Co. workers in New York are assembling the first 175 foot steel span of the Woolwich Arrowsic bridge on the Sasanoa river. The span sits on temporary supports until a second pier is completed and will be floated from a barge using a 120 foot crane. A later 2300 foot long second span will also be built after the third pier, with plans to assemble on a barge and raise into place.

Award contract for road work in Reid Park area
The State Park commission awarded a contract to W. H. Hinman Inc of North Anson on Monday to build 0.3 miles of road inside Reid State Park Georgetown two parking areas and dredge part of the lagoon to provide swimming facilities The road will connect the new highway to a Reed Reed dam and bridge and extend to a parking area at Griffiths head A second parking lot will be near the canal inside the park boundary Dredging aims to remove silt to uncover the sandy bottom and heat the lagoon for safer family bathing
