Naval Men Invited to Attend Memorial Day Ceremonies
The T. W. Hyde camp committee invites Naval officers at Bath Iron Works and plant workers not living in Bath to join the Memorial Day observance. A parade will start from Grand Army hall at 10 a.m. Mayor Donald N. Snall and city council members are invited, along with auxiliaries and posts from several patriotic groups. St Johns band of Brunswick will provide music. A general planning meeting is set for next Monday at 7:30 p.m. at Grand Army hall. Worship will be held Sunday morning the 29th at Winter Street Church at 10:30.

Hospitals National Day Observed With Services and Remembrance
National Hospital day was observed in Bath with a two to four open house at Memorial hospital, an evening church service at Grace church, and a St Barnabas guild meeting. Sixty five visitors attended the hospital and nurses, with 27 in uniform, filled the church. Gifts included a calla lily basket from Mrs William D Sewall and snapdragons from Mrs J R Andrews. Rev Charles M Tubbs preached on The Compassionate Profession with Florence Nightingale and nursing history praised. Miss Hyeven Wood gave a Nightingale sketch. The day closed with refreshments and plans for the guild’s next meeting and officer elections.

Bath pupils stage supervised play demonstration at Morse High
A capacity crowd watched Bath public schools pupils from fourth grade to high school perform a year’s work in physical education. Duncan Farrell hosted with Miss Gertrude Diggery and others. Maine PE chief C. Harry Edwards urged play for all children and noted supervised activity builds strength and skill. Groups featured relay races, human croquet, pyramid tumbling, and midair somersaults, with Bath School Orchestra providing music.

Bath policemens Ball draws record attendance at Arcade
Baths Finest conduct successful ball at Arcade hall with over 500 in attendance. The event featured Ernie George and his Arcadians eight piece band plus two soloists. The Bath Marine band debuted with 30 players leading the grand march attended by about 200 couples.

In cooperation with the U S Bureau of Fisheries Maine begins an extensive 1938 lobster rearing program at Boothbay Harbor Federal hatchery. Commissioner Arthur R Greenleaf says fourth stage lobsters to be reared will more than double last year's total and released along the coast. Thomas B Dorr oversees initial processing as thousands of pounds of state seed lobsters are prepared for release. plans for a long term program are being drafted with federal cooperation.
