A plan for a joint New England exhibit at the New York World’s Fair calls for items including elm trees old street lamps granite fence posts and emhi wash bowls plus two matched iron gates a metal lathe and asphalt. The exhibit would feature a New England waterfront scene with a vessel at dock and a merchant warehouse with a Bullfinch style building across from it. The Architects’ Committee invites offers of services and materials from New Englanders and lists many items and construction supplies.

Bath couple marks golden wedding anniversary
Mr and Mrs William H White of Bath hosted Monday afternoon calls to honor their golden wedding anniversary at their daughter Mrs Olney C Perry’s home at 28 Bedford Street. The couple, both in excellent health, married May 23 1888 in Lisbon Falls. They lived in Lewiston and Bath, with White’s career at Bath Iron Works and Farnham Co. Inc. The pair have two daughters Alma Louise who died in infancy and Esther Jane, now Mrs Olney C Perry. They are active in West Bath Grange, Winter Street church, and local service groups.

Mysterious Fires Strike Georgetown Homes Again
The week sees two unoccupied houses burned to the ground in Georgetown. The James MacMahan place on Schoolhouse road and the Cotton Island cottage owned by Winslow Rouse were destroyed. Fire chief Lewis spotted a blaze at 4 a.m. and the Five Islands department responded. An investigator from the State Insurance Department will be sent to examine the mysterious fires.

Arraigned Men Pay Costs After Stop Sign Violation
Willam F E Tanner of Brunswick and Joseph Kalil of Portland faced municipal court on Tuesday for failing to observe a stop sign at Rae uu and Court streets. They pleaded guilty and were taxed $4.95 in court costs. The sign now stands at the northwest corner of High and Court streets to protect through traffic on the Bath Brunswick highway project.
