Wilson 81 a Civil War veteran and famed Casco Bay fisherman died Sunday after a long illness at his daughter Mrs Silas M Oliver’s home in Bath Born June 28 1845 he moved to Phippsburg as a youth He married Ethelind Wallace six years shy of sixty He served in the 1th Massachusetts Infantry participating in Port Hudson Baton Rouge New Orleans and the Red River expedition He was a Grand Army of Massachusetts member After retiring from the sea he lived with his wife in Bath He leaves wife two daughters Mrs Edgar Pye and Mrs Silas M Oliver four sons Abner George William and Fred P Wilson two sisters and one brother
Mrs Sarah Rideout Abbott 55 wife of Frederick VP Abbott died at Camp Hillis on the Saco river Saturday. Death followed complications from a recent operation at Webber hospital Biddeford. A longtime Maine club figure she served on multiple boards and led statewide parent teacher and women’s groups.
John W Kane 50 died at Baker Avenue Quincy after a 1918 shock and long decline. A boiler maker by trade, he spent 40 years at Tsath Iron Works and 35 years as assistant foreman. He left last September to live with his children. Funeral Monday at 9 am at Baker Avenue Quincy.
Grace M Brown 44 wife of Charles W T Brown of Woolwich died at home after a short illness. Born in Brunswick to George and Arletta Cripps she lived in Woolwich 26 years. Survived by son Glenwood and sister Mrs Emma Edgerly. Funeral held at Nequasset home with Rev Edwin Hardin officiating. Pallbearers named. Burial in Riverside cemetery.
The funeral for Zepnath Pinkham who drowned near Georgetown last Tuesday took place Friday afternoon at two at his brother Clyde Pinkham’s home, 54 Green Street. Rev. Samuel A. Evans officiated while bearers were Clyde Jeremiah Walter and Everett Pinkham. Burial was in Oak Grove.
The funeral for Amory Mclellan Houghton was held Friday at 10:80 a.m. at his home 38 Washington Street. Rev. David J. Wilson of Central Congregational Church officiated. Bearers were Joseph M. Trott Charles R. Donnell J Houghton McLellan William R. Kimball and Owen J. Ledyard. Burial was in the Maple Grove family lot.
Aldermen approve firemen pay raise, install two new street lights, and adjust liabilities. City officials confirm bonds and clerks for two-year terms, authorize sale of vacant school building and appoint a cemetery head, with routine license actions and payroll reviews.
The city council passes a 340 037 28 appropriation for Bath for the 1927 fiscal year. It directs the treasurer to record each item and the mayor to issue warrants. A June 30 1926 tax commitment terms include seven percent interest on late payments and enforcement by the collector.
Mrs. Frank Chellis of 21 Wrighland Street received word of the death of her brother Walter Wiley in St. John New Brunswick. She left Wednesday night to reach his bedside but he died before her arrival.

They stayed at Delta Upsilon Kappa Sigma and Zeta Psi houses, enjoyed a vaudeville show, attended classes, and watched Bowdoin beat Brown in a track meet, at the informal gym dance. Peru bans chinchilla killing to protect the species, now a chinchilla coat costs 85000.
The Cosmopolitan club announced a rummage sale at the club house Saturday afternoon May S and a card party and social at the club house this Thursday evening. Misses Virginia and Anna Verey entertained with songs and ukuleles, and Carol Stevens played piano. Sherbet and cake were served. The Civil Service Commission announces stenographer and typist exams across Bath and other New England sites to fill government vacancies. Typical salaries are 110 dollars for typists and 320 dollars for stenographers annually. applications due by June 9. I M Dorsey notes a shift from farm to creamery butter with twice as much butter made in creameries. He lists standards high quality creamery butter must meet, and urges farm butter producers to improve quality to capture urban Maine market demand. Guidance includes butterfat, churning, washing, salting, packaging, and obtaining instruction sheets from county agents or the Agricultural Extension Service in Orono Maine.
North Center P T A tag day committee led by Mrs. Sewall W. Percy reported success at a high school meeting and handed over 1000 dollars to the treasurer. Acknowledgments went to Mrs. Percy Mrs. Arthur Sewall and Mrs. Harry F Morin plus Carroll Watson for help. The president appointed a field improvements committee including Allan Spear chair Arthur Sewall John Hayes Ray V Hayward Carroll Watson Mrs T Morin and Mrs Ethel Lockery.
Beginning last Saturday the last local trolley car for either end of the city will be held to connect with the main line trolley due from Lewiston at ten o'clock standard time. Sept. Lewis announced this change Friday. It should prove a great accommodation for passengers at the far end of the cities.
