Blaze at Parker Head lumber yard scars villagers and stacks

Fire swept through the H Page lumber tenet at Parker Head with 400000 to 500000 feet destroyed and about $12000 loss. Volunteers from Bath aided by Driver Cook moved 2000000 feet of logs as winds fanned flames. Fire tracked misdirection delayed access to the Morse farm as crews fought the blaze through the Reed farm operations.

Bath Couple Returns From The West Coast

Mr and Mrs John D Footer arrived home in Bath after a 19 day automobile trip from Berkeley California. They encountered one day of rain in Manhattan Kansas but otherwise found mostly excellent roads. Footer will resume his marble cutter work and plans weekend fishing trips.

Police officer fires at suspected shopbreakers on waterfront street

Patrolman Horace Pottle pursued two men fleeing from a Commercial street alley near the George P. Jackson store. He fired when they did not stop, and a second shot shattered a glass pane at Aubrey Steen's store. The pair vanished toward Summer Street. one man likely acted as look-out. Police believe two break-in suspects were involved.

California All Right but Maine Is Better

A San Diego visitor Mrs. Charles W. Brown says California is all right but Maine appeals more after a cross country trip. She arrived Friday to visit relatives Mr. and Mrs. William TH. Wilson in Sebasto with her husband and their son Ralph planning a later motor trip. Her last Maine visit 15 months ago included her mother Mrs. Martha Fay who died last Fall in San Diego. Mrs. Brown’s brother Major Herbert Fay, now with a Long Beach water district delegation, is active in civic work and was once a mayoral candidate. Mrs. Delmar Bates and children Edwin Troward and Mary visited from Snow Park, while Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Ht. Dunton returned from Daytona Beach where they together with Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Lehr managed a hotel.

Forest Acres rural comedy draws full Bath crowd

The Philathea class of Corliss Street church staged Forest Acres at Washington street schoolhouse Friday before a capacity audience. Eula Fielding, Nellie Hunt, Evelyn Dodge and others played the Crockett family and a cast of girls filled male roles with praise. The show, aided by an orchestra, raised 38 dollars in ticket sales.

Sirens to guard orchards in New South Wales tests

The irrigation commissioner of New South Wales offers funding for a novel experiment using marine signalling sirens to deter starlings and other birds from vineyards and orchards in the irrigation area. The device, a distress siren, would be placed among trees and operated electrically to test its effectiveness.

Minstrels Benefit At Opera House Delights Richmond

The B B B B Minstrels gave a lively benefit show at the Richmond Opera House Friday night for Emerson Grammar School. Miss Catherine Woodside presided at the piano as the ensemble performed a varied program.
