Bath built Donnygill proves staunch craft on sea voyage
The Bath built houseboat Donnygill, constructed at Orth Bath last year, sailed from Bath to Florida with Fred H. Lord of West Bath aboard as owner and manager. Captain W. R. Moore and crew faced severe weather that tested the vessel, including a loose 16 foot launch on top and tea kettle and stove parts tossed by heavy seas. The craft arrived in West Palm Beach December 20 and later toured Florida ports before plans to return north in May, possibly to the Kennebec or New York. Edsel Ford rode aboard as a notable passenger during boat races at the resort town.
