Owned by Richard Wheatland of Salem Mass, the tracts have not been operated for 15 years. Timber estimates include 848000 cords of spruce and fir pulp wood, 57900000 feet of cedar, and 9600 feet of pine.

Sophia G Morse aged about 90 died in Cherryfield, reputed as one of the oldest and most beloved community members. She was the daughter of Robert C and Belinda White Willey.
A repeat production of Fashion Show at Hicksville by the Dike P T A drew a good audience to the West Bath grange hall last Wednesday. Highlights included a dramatized solo by Mrs Frederick J Hoff man with orchestra, a colored solo by Mrs Chester H Worrey, songs by Robbie Carver, and yodelling by Walter Snipe.
Bath could host a 3.2 beer brewery if legalization proceeds by June 30, with Liberty Bottling Co. owner George Poulos planning to convert the Commercial street plant to beer manufacture after court approval. The shift entails substantial investment and plant alterations, but Bath’s central resort location supports the move given limited central plants in Maine.
Treas L Eugene Thebeau of Bath Iron Works and Mrs Thebeau married April 21 at St Marys Catholic church in Bath. They honeymooned in Massachusetts and returned Wednesday evening. The Old Ladies Home annual meeting elected Agnes W Humphreys treasurer replacing Rev David L Wilson who resigned after 15 years. Owen J Ledyard was re elected president Arthur Sewall vice president and Harriet C L Lord secretary. Board members for three year terms include Mrs Byron F Barker Miss Phillis Bowie Mrs Charles H Cahill Mrs Humphreys Mrs John H Hyde Miss Charlotte I Meeker Mrs Albert H Shaw and Mrs Langdon T Snipe.
The first May breakfast in Bath in years drew over 100 attendees from the Wesley church Ladies aid. Served in the vestry from 5 30 to 8 30, the menu included fruit cereals bacon and eggs fish cakes coffee and doughnuts. A satisfactory sum was Cleared.
The Y M C A. has nearly finished organizing the Y Grammar School baseball league. Four teams with coaches and assistants are set, with umpires on bases and balls named. Kel ley Field is reserved for May 6 to June 10 from 9 to 3.
Sam Morrill Lewiston weather prophet predicts a May with normal to above normal temperatures and precipitation. The month will start warm then cool and end stormy with three main storm periods from the 8th to 14th 19th to 25th and 28th to month end. Dec oration Day sees an electrical shower and the 20th onward returns to a merry month of May. The earthquake period is set for the first week near the equator and the last week for the northern hemisphere quake period.
A pleasant all day session of the Beacon Street M. E. church ladies was held in the church parlor. Luncheon was served in the vestry. Gifts of money were presented to retiring president Mrs. Charles I. Madden, treasurer Mrs. Raymond M. Clark, and secretary Mrs. Weston P. Holman. Officers elected for the coming year include Mrs. Irving C. Varney president and Miss Elizabeth E. Dunbar treasurer.
