Labor in Planned State Cripps Plan Fails to Direct Labor
In 1946 Sir Stafford Cripps advocated a planned economy without labor direction. By late 1948 authorities issued 374 directives to miners to stay in mining and 132 to farmers to remain in agriculture, showing government failure not from tyranny but from clinging to planned state theory. A MP noted officials oppose directing labor yet misapply planning, risking suppression of free labor and enterprise.
