Four Injured In Fire At Pastime Theatre Case At Brunswick
Four persons were injured escaping from a three story wooden block housing the Pastime Theatre on Maine Street Brunswick. The fire began near the stair closet and spread, trapping residents Wallace Gould and family and Alton Thompson and wife on the third floor. Firefighters fought the blaze for hours with seven hydrant lines as residents leaped to the carriage house roof and a ladder saved Mrs Thompson. Goulds suffered serious injuries. Mrs Gould, Miss Gould and Mr Gould were unsteady walkers with broken or badly wrenched limbs. Firefighters and local police aided in rescue and the fire caused over ten thousand dollars in losses, with the film The Master Key among the items destroyed. The school board met in council chambers for organization with new and returning members and appointed Hyde as vice chairman and several committees.
