SONS OF VETERANS AND NAVY CLUB HOSTS A PARTY AT G. A. R. HALL. T. W. Hyde camp and Navy club ship 29 sponsored a screening of war films Monday night with Lt. Mullen of U S N as speaker. He spoke about Pearl Harbor, 93 days at sea, and repairs at Bath Iron Works. Several veterans leaders attended and the Bath Iron Works lent equipment. Refreshments followed.

Bath Flotilla 202 U S C G T R Bath Maine won the signal contest at South Portland Armory for the 2nd division of the temporary reserve Coast Guard First Naval District. The Bath team earns a chance to meet other district crews for district wide honors with final date to be announced. Ten Bath members traveled, six took part with three sending and three receiving.

Destroyer Maddox Launches Sunday
The USS Maddox, a 2200 ton destroyer, was successfully launched Sunday morning at Bath Tron Works Corp. in near zero weather. Named for Capt. William A. T. Maddox, she is the third ship to carry the name. the second Maddox was lost off Sicily last year. Mrs. Harry H. Willhoit of Washington, D. C., granddaughter of Capt. Maddox, sponsored the launch.

Surgical dressings material coming to Bath chapter Red Cross
Mrs. Etta Thurlow chairs the Bath chapter surgical dressings depart ment. Material to resume work may arrive by mid April. A new dressing type will be made with surgical face masks for contagious cases and heel and elbow rings from defective material. Over 300,000 dressings have been sent from Bath by about 125 workers, some with over 500 hours. The Boston office said Bath was not assigned a April quota due to small area.
