City Council Votes to Sell Kelley Spear Property
The Bath city council, in a special meeting, unanimously approved selling a large part of the Kelley Spear property including the three story building for one dollar for industrial use with sav ing and reversion clauses. The New Industries committee of the Bath Chamber of Commerce presented plans and potential job creation, with about 120 workers and possible plant expansion, while noting no tax concessions were expected. The sale is subject to city approval of terms and further talks with the prospective firm and its New Canaan leaseholder. The council will also aid in negotiations with the chamber and company officials. The upcoming city council banquet is set for March 24 at the Sedgwick.

One of Bath's oldest houses being razed on Washington Street
The house next to the Bath Iron Works recreation building on Washington street, dating to shortly after the Revolution, is being torn down. Built by Isaiah Crooker Jr., it housed his descendants into the 20th century and linked to Bath's civic growth through roles in militia, Bath Bridge and Turnpike Co., Bath Academy, and Gen. King's Bank.

The collision pushed the vehicle 226 feet, the truck smashed a storefront, and Graffam was hospitalized briefly for routine checks before discharge.
