Retaining Wall Planned Around Major Oil Tanks
Standard Oil Co plans a high dirt retaining wall around its large tanks at the old Deering shipyard plant. A power shovel works west of Tyleston C. Oliver’s High street residence to dig dirt for the wall, which will be sown with grass by summer. The barrier aims to prevent oil flow if tanks are damaged, easing South End residents’ fears. A fleet of trucks will haul dirt to the site.
