The Cosmopolitan club nominated officers at March meeting and elected them at the annual banquet held March 11 at Hotel Sedgwick. New president is Mrs. Granville M. Colby with a slate including Mrs. Ivan A. Trueworthy and Mrs. Maurice A. Libby as vice presidents, plus recording and corresponding secretaries, treasurer and auditor. Directors include Mrs. William W. Dennison as chair and Miss Rachel F. Nichols and Mrs. Chester A. Roberts.

Man to Remove Brown Tail Nests Sought in Bath
Bath Employment Agency on Front Street can supply men to remove brown tail moth nests from trees at reasonable cost. Walter Witham, training instructor at Boothbay Harbor High School, wrote an article on his department’s work at the request of Dana Cotton. It will appear in the next Vocational Guidance Bulletin.

Bath Iron Works Employes Union Purchases Bonds
The Independent Brotherhood of Shipyard Workers of Bath voted to buy a $500 U S Defense Bond at a Feb 10 meeting and agreed to purchase one $100 bond weekly thereafter. President James W Harkins urged support, saying money buys better equipment and speeds victory in the South Pacific. The group stressed no idle funds and a goal of aiding the defense effort now.

Four New Members Join Lionesses at Sedgwick Luncheon
The Lionesses welcomed four new members Mrs W Scott Davis Mrs Edward Sampson Mrs Ralph Gay and Mrs John Preney at a Sedgwick Hotel luncheon. President Mrs Arthur M Bowker led a business meeting and Rev Joseph O Purdue discussed Nazi occupation in Norway. The next three meetings are March 26 at 6 30 pm April 9 at 1 00 pm and April 23 at 6 30 pm all at the Sedgwick.

Fire Destroys Presby Home in Woolwich
Fire destroyed the one and a half story Presby home of John A. Presby at Woolwich end of the bridge Saturday evening. Engine Four fought the blaze, laying 2200 feet of hose with help from a service truck and another engine. The home was a total loss but surrounding buildings were saved. Also noted: Junior Red Cross yarn drive for afghans and dog licensing tags arriving at City Clerk office with deadline looming.

Governor Sumner Sewall, former post commander, was the honored guest at the 23rd Birthday Dinner for Roland Smith Post 21 American Legion in Legion Hall. A large crowd heard Warden John Welch detail prison workings with color pictures, as the Auxiliary served a meal and presented gifts.
