In a final bulletin the State War Chest Inc. praises Sagadahoc County for raising 124 percent of its $35,000 quota in 1944, led by Archibald M. Main of Bath Iron Works and county War Chest chair Edward F. Edgren. The county total reached $43,545.64, with Miss Madge Stacy Edward Murphy and Ralph W. Bragg also recognized. Mrs. Horace E. Wade of Day's Ferry visited Boston briefly.

Destroyer Hanson Named For Naval Hero Hanson
Honoring the late First Lieutenant Robert Murray Hanson U S M C Reserve of Newtonville Mass the destroyer USS Hanson will be launched at 1130 Sunday forenoon March 11 at Bath Iron Works Bath Maine. Hanson received the Medal of Honor for gallantry after attacking six enemy torpedo bombers at Bougainville and downing four Zeros over New Britain before his plane crash in February 1944. He was also awarded the Navy Cross.
