Brooklyn youths unlock static electricity via box kite experiments
A group of six Brooklyn men employed by the Bell Telephone company claim to draw electricity from the atmosphere with a four foot box kite winding 200 feet of copper wire to a ground receiver. They report successful wireless messages from the Brooklyn navy yard and Fall River steamboats, note height dependent reception, plan Bay Ridge testing, and aim to store energy for power and light.
