The will of James Patten, dated May 22, 1894 and amended by a 1900 codicil, leaves about 75000 in public bequests to Bath institutions and relatives. After relatives receive 5000 each, the estate funds are used to support Patten Library Bath, Central Congregational church, Old Ladies Home, City of Bath, Aged Couples' Home Bath, Good Will Farm for Boys, Good Will Home for Girls, U P S C E Bath, and free beds at Maine General Hospital and Maine Eye and Ear Infirmary Portland. Jessie Jane Patten named executrix with Sewall and Low as executors.
