The destroyer USS Gyatt will dock at Bath Iron Works for a centennial celebration and open house. The ship’s schedule includes weekend visitation and three games with Bath clubs, with Maine crew listed among next of kin. Private Edward Earl Gyatt is the ship’s namesake, killed at Tulagi in 1942. Latest Type Rolling Stock on Exhibition Here on Sunday
George Hill Maine Central Railroad publicity director announced a diesel locomotive and two stainless steel cars would visit the station for a public exhibition this Sunday from 11 30 a m to 4 p m. The display marks the railroad’s 100th anniversary celebration in Bath with a special ramp to the cab for visitors.

Harbor View House Sold to Frederick Drake Jr for Demolition
Frederick E. Drake Jr, president of James B. Drake & Sons, Bath, bought the Harbor View House at Front and Vine streets from Mrs. Margaret I. River Mass. The three story wooden landmark will be razed, with Charles Marble of Bath to lead the wrecking next week. The building, built over 100 years ago by Capt. Davis Hatch, has stood vacant for about two years. Furnishings are being removed as junking begins. (Continued on Page Seven)

Maine Elks will promote state seafood products at the National Convention in Cleveland. Edward J. McMann of Bath heads the Maine delegation activities with help from Commissioner Richard E. Reed of Sea and Shore Fisheries. A Maine room at a leading hotel will showcase seafood, recipe booklets, and souvenir pins. A miniature wooden sea chest of sardines and other products will be presented at the banquet as part of a Pine Tree state display for 1950.

The destroyer USS Gyatt will dock at Bath Iron Works north deck around seven Saturday morning July 2 for Bath's three day Double Centennial. A 10 AM welcoming committee includes City Manager Ralph Mittendorf and Bath Iron Works leaders. Commander will send a detachment to visit Bath at five that afternoon.

Lions International President Visits Bath
Eugene S. Briggs head of Lions International and Mrs Briggs visited Bath and traveled next to Bangor Maine for a Lions meeting. In Bath they stayed with District 41-A Governor Edward True attended a clam bake at Rock Hill Inn with about 200 Lions and Lionesses. The event featured talks on Lionism the slogan Liberty Intelligence Our Nations Safety and music by the South Portland Lions quartet plus local performances.

Retiring President Loring Addison led a Rotary club luncheon at Central church parish house as treasurer Carl Kennedy reported 1058 dollars in the treasury up 78 since July 1 1948. Committees praised for civic help and 357.40 donated to worthy causes while 375 Rotary guests and 46 junior guests were hosted. George Musk named new president and Secretary Murphy acknowledged. Displaced Latvian Family Finds Welcome in Robinhood
The Kirsis family from Tukums Latvia and their 19 year old son Aldis arrived at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Roland Peter in Robinhood. Once comfortable, Mr Kirsis was a trainmaster and farmed in off hours. Aldis attended Liutvie high school before Latvia's wartime turmoil, as Germans occupied and later Russians advanced, altering their lives.
