Bath Observes Double Centennial of First Muster and Railroad
Bath celebrated the double centennial of the first firemen muster and the first railroad passenger service with a three day event drawing thousands. The program included ship visit by USS Gyatt, parades, dances, baseball games, a fireworks display, a streamline train visit, and a muster on Water street concluding Monday.

PUPILS TRAFFIC PATROL GUESTS AT BATH PICNIC
More than 200 Bath School Patrol members, boys and girls, enjoyed a day at Thomas Point on the New Meadows. Hosted by Bath Aerie of Eagles and Bath Police, they were honored for their traffic control work with no accidents reported. The Eagles help fund and run the outing with food, games, swimming, and activities.

Holiday Parade Accidents Reported In Bath Area
Over the holiday several minor crashes and injuries were reported. A four year old girl from Lakewood was treated for ear bruising after stepping into a car’s path near a gorilla float. A Pittsburgh crew member suffered a broken ankle on Front street and went to a Marine hospital in Portland. Three people received minor burns from fireworks at Memorial Hospital and others were treated by Bath Patios department. Mrs. Helen Morrison of Auburn and her son were hospitalized for observation after a two car collision on Sebasco road.

Bath’s Double Centennial celebration drew hundreds as the Saturday parade showcased a marching band, sailors from the U S S Gyatt, National Guard units, Veterans groups, and a playful playground division of bicycles and floats. Ed Newell rescued a runaway balloon while Henry Bell rode a velocipede at the head. The Elk lodge and 4 H club floats drew cheers, including a live cow atop the 4 H scene.

Monday morning Bath hosted one of its best parades in years. Fire engines, marching crews, majorettes, and visiting units from USS Gyatt and Essex Mass. filled streets with music and energy. Spectators praised the display as a vibrant downtown event with extra performances by Hayseeders and Okommakamesis No. 2, leaving Bath buzzing with civic pride.

Fireworks Show Shines At Bath And Bar Harbor
A 20 minute Bath display costing 500 dollars drew about 3000 spectators at Chandler field with 30 aerial bombs and a flag finale. Organizer Mike Falconia, licensed by the State Insurance Commission and Interstate Fire Works Co., then moved to Bar Harbor for a 40 minute display valued at 1500 dollars. The Bath show was praised as a strong value compared with Skowhegan State Fair’s annual 2500 dollar program.

Foggy weather failed to dampen spirits as 17 youngsters from Huse Goddard and Hyde Park playgrounds headed for a picnic at Popham Beach. Maine Central Brings Modern Streamline Train to Bath
A new diesel electric engine and two stainless steel coaches arrived in Bath Sunday at 11 30 marking the 100th anniversary of the first Bath rail service. The engine, in service on the Maine line for about two years, is among the latest heavy diesels. The cars include a reclining lounge with double-curtained windows and a dining room.
