Bath City Council Approves Huse School Addition Bid
The Bath city council moved to issue bonds of 105 000 for a Huse Memorial school addition after accepting a bid of 85 500 from Consolidated Constructors Inc of Portland with contingencies and architect fees raising total to 110 193. The council also accepted 18 023 from the Federal Works Administration for school maintenance and considered a South Street playground and a Kimball Field wading pool with 11 000 in the Kimball fund to help fund the pool.

Hinckley Proves One Man in a Million by Outliving Policy
Dr. George W. Hinckley of Hinckley Maine outlived his 35 year life insurance policy and received full face value on June 18. Arthur S. Kilburn of Penn Mutual presented a $50,433 check to Walter Hinckley, with $17,500 dividends paid in 1931, totaling nearly $68,000 for the Good Will Home Association.

Lieut F H Bellew USN attached to Bath Iron Works acts as liaison between destroyer USS Gyatt and the city during July 2 to 5 for Bath centennial events. Gyatt will berth at the north deck under Capt Blair with 10 officers and about 270 crew plus trainees. public visits allowed 1 to noon. Frank Thomas and Mrs. Shaw visit Oak Street residents.

Bath prepares three day Fourth of July festival and ship visit
Plans for a three day Bath celebration July 2 to 4 mark the 100th anniversary of the first firemen muster and first railroad passenger service. The schedule includes Dollar Day sales, band concerts, a parade, a ball game, and a dance at the Community Center. The USS Gyatt will visit, crew to tour Works Corp yard, and local facilities opened for officers and sailors.
