Current Events Club Elects New Officers at Meeting
The Cosmopolitan club Current Events department held its annual meeting in the club house on Thursday afternoon. Mrs. Joseph I. Smith was elected chairman and Mrs. William L. Skelton secretary treasurer. both positions were approved unanimously. Mrs. Humphreys presided, and Mrs. Lena D. Donnell praised her work as the class plans a June 27 outing at Bethel Inn, weather permitting, otherwise July 1.

North Bath Couple Observe Anniversary
North Bath residents Mr. and Mrs. Owen E. Rogers marked their fortieth wedding anniversary with callers in the afternoon and a gathering of friends that evening at their summer home. Rogers, a prominent local farmer born in 1868, married Lillian Mallett in June 1895. He has served on the Bath city council and held all offices in West Bath grange, while Mrs. Rogers was its secretary for two years. both attend Winter Street church.

Family visit highlights long‑standing Davis ties in Appleton

Miss Betty Donnell daughter of Mr and Mrs Roy A Donnell saved a drowning young man at Belgrade Lakes. She dived from a canoe wearing a bathing suit and with one hand pushed the capsized craft while holding the swimmer until a second boat rescued them. The rescuer, a student nurse at Augusta General Hospital, recently returned to Augusta for nurses graduation after appendicitis surgery. Also noted is a social visit at Old Orchard where friends delivered assorted gifts for Mrs Marion Day including a turkey, ice cream and beach towels.

Portland Man Killed in Auto Smash on Route to Gardiner
Morris J. Widrow of Portland died from a fractured skull and internal injuries after a two-vehicle crash on the Wiscasset Gardiner road three miles north of Wiscasset. Frank Goffin of Pawtucket and Harold L. Troop of Bath were injured, with Troop and Goffin treated at Bath Memorial hospital. Widrow was a tug salesman and treasurer of Enterprise Mattress Co. he leaves a widow, daughter, and son.

Bath Water District employees flushed hydrants with good results, but stones and pebbles have been found inside some. Youngsters reportedly dropped items into hydrants to hear a rattle, risking nozzle plugging and hose bursts in a fire. A stone from Washburn and Deering measured 3.25 inches and weighed about half a pound.
